I am, first and foremost, a reader. I devour books, blogs, articles – any content I can get my hands on, substantial or not. Books I like to save to wind down with in the evening, but my days are sprinkled with blogs. I use Bloglovin as a way to organize and read latest posts, and the app makes it super easy to keep up with my favorite reads. What I’ve learned over time is that not all blogs are created equal. And that’s honestly because not all authors are as relatable or write about what I want to read. So these preferences run a little personal, but if you’re looking for a place to start, I promise these won’t fail you. Without further ado – my very favorite blogs to read/stalk/pick me up.
Okay, I’m starting with the disclaimer that this isn’t so much a “blog” as it is a “website about anything and everything you’d ever want to know about cooking and eating”. The recipes are fantastic. There’s a ton of fresh content daily. And the tips/tricks are out of this world! I feel like I’ve learned so much about food and life from this site. The website itself can be overwhelming with just SO MUCH to read, but having it chronologically added to Bloglovin makes it super manageable to seek out the most interesting articles.
So this one might also fall into the category of more website than blog, but I’m obsessed with both the writing and the beauty info on this site. It’s fun and fresh and quippy, and exactly what I’d expect from a glamorously polished city-dweller. My beauty wishlist is a mile long because of this site, but more importantly, I’ve learned how to properly exfoliate and moisturize. The interviews are my absolute favorite because I’m nosey. Product whores and beauty newbies will both be delighted with this site!
Gabrielle has been on my blog feed for ages, and I always find her fresh and funny and real. Once again, I’m in love with the interviews. She writes about design and family, and her “A few things” posts every week are such a great roundup! I also love that she encourages discussion on her site, and is politically active and socially conscious. A lot of “mommy bloggers” these days tend to avoid posting about current events, but Gabrielle leans into these tough conversations, which I find so refreshing.
Joanna and her team write about anything and everything under the sun – motherhood, fashion, travel, food, relationships. I find her posts both funny and informative, and the conversations that happen in the comments are always entertaining. Joanna also totally nails it with her weekly roundup of interesting links, and the style posts are spot on with their aesthetic. Her posts on relationships are especially wonderful, as she doesn’t hesitate to jump into the deep stuff.
Last but not least, Rachel from Pencil Shavings Studio might be the most relatable person on the internet. I’ve both laughed and cried from her writing, and I so appreciate the kind of honesty she gives. Her design style is super colorful and fun, which is a departure from my own, but I’m still drawn to it! She’s also hysterical to follow on social media – her instagram stories have me cracking up on the regular. I basically want to be her best friend (if only to borrow her gorgeous home at Carlton Landing).
There you have it – my top internet reads! Tell me what you’re reading?
