Out of all the things I’m thankful for (my health, my husband, my puppy), my girlfriends consistently rank at the top of the list of can’t-imagine-living-without. They’re simply the best. They know me well and love me even still. They’re gracious and beautiful and kind. I surround myself with them just hoping that some of their goodness will rub off on me by default. Basically, this whole article on Buzzfeed about Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins is how I feel about my female friends. They’re poetic and noble land-mermaids.
One of my very best land-mermaids helped me out with the surprise proposal I did a while back, where I “pretended” to be a photography student in need of some models. While my acting skills were not so awesome, I did get to spend some time capturing portraits of my darling Sarah, and I love how they turned out! She’s a gorgeous subject and a great sport.
So in honor of sharing some of those favorite shots, a little thank you note to all of my wonderful gals, both near and far…
Thank you for being able to maintain multiple talking points within the same texting exchange. You can keep up with my crazy brain and I love it.
Thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement, both in my business and in my life.
Thank you for giving me an honest “yes” when I ask if I was being too bitchy back there, but also saying “it’s okay”.
Thank you for all the margaritas and laughs shared, and that you always meet me exactly where I’m at.
Thank you for putting up with my Michael Scott-level of humor.
Thank you for helping me weather all the ups and especially the downs, and for asking me the hard questions and helping me find the even harder answers.
Thank you for stepping into my life alongside me and meeting me for random Target dates and dinners.
Thank you for the grace that you’ve continued to extend me, and that you never count my sins.
Thank you for the kind of love that reflects the face of God – that it loves unfailingly, unswervingly, unselfishly. The woman I am today is because of the collective love and support from you beautiful tropical fish.
Now, go and tell your friends how much you love them. Make it awkward and awesome as needed.
