We’ve got flowers on flowers around here these days. First up, the bouquet of orange tiger lilies that Joe brought home almost three weeks ago is still brightening up the kitchen. The flower parade was continued with a fun-filled trip to the Renaissance Festival on Labor Day. The wooded area full of people in all sorts of costumes brought me right back to experiencing it all as a little girl. I used to go right for the face painting, but I decided to forgo it this year and instead went straight for the flower crown. I definitely plan on using it in some future photo shoots!
And speaking of photo shoots, I cajoled my beautiful friend Sarah into hopping on over to a sunflower field this week to snag some photos. The sunset was obscured by some cloud cover, but the field was open and gorgeous! Sarah’s a stunning model and is super patient when I ask her to snap a few headshots for yours truly 😉
In the midst of all the flower power, I’m working hard to renew my focus and create space for myself during this season. Back to school ain’t a joke and it’s easy to get wrapped up in juggling schedules and packing my poor little planner to the brim. But instead of that stressed-out route, I want to make sure that I remain spiritually, emotionally, and physically well fed. That includes making actual lunches for myself, cracking open my Bible more days than not, having quality time with girlfriends, and protecting date nights with my husband. We’re a work in progress over here, but I’m learning more of what it means to be present over perfect.
