If you ever have the pleasure of meeting a Mrs. Jan Johnson, she’ll likely tell you all about her daughter’s 8th-grade orientation whereupon being welcomed to the new class, a certain blonde pre-teen immediately befriended the young Sarah. From there, the two were fast friends – high school besties, “long distance” college friends, and bridesmaids in each other’s weddings. I was that blonde girl, and Sarah has been a treasured friend ever since that fateful middle school introduction. She understands me on a fundamental level and continues to be a constant source of encouragement and support in my life. It was with so much joy that I stood by her a year ago when she pledged her love to Chad, another Fort Mill friend.
Sarah and Chad made their way north last weekend to visit Joe and me for a few days, and we crammed as much Baltimore goodness as we could into our time together. We began with late night snacks and the Olympics, followed up with an incredible brunch the next morning. We then hit the city streets, strolling through the Inner Harbor, Harbor East, and finally making our way around Little Italy’s St. Gabriel’s Festival. Between the Italian ice and old men playing in the bocce tournament, we couldn’t get enough of the atmosphere.
The heat had us retiring to the house for afternoon lounging and some freshening up before heading over to Oregon Ridge for an anniversary photo shoot for Sarah and Chad. We hit golden hour just right, and it was so much fun to work with them. I had such a hard time culling this bunch, I felt like every frame they were doing something adorable! I’ll be posting more from their shoot next week, but in the meantime, I’m just drooling over how sweet they are together!
We ended our Saturday with grilling and board games, plus some local brews and lots of laughter. Sunday morning we were up early to hit another brunch spot before church, and then all too soon, Sarah and Chad made their way back down south. I so enjoyed being able to spend time with these old friends, and to show them our new place! Sarah and Chad, come back soon!
