The Bailey’s first Christmas tree is officially decorated and dubbed Percy. He’s short and fat and wonderful. I have to water him every day because you’re supposed to water Christmas trees and I somehow never knew that. I blame baby John’s allergies and all of our years of fake trees. I’ve been in major nesting mode the past week and have attempted to change pretty much every room in the apartment. The crafts are never ending, even though they really should end sometime soon because exams are next week. For filler ornaments (because we really only have two dozen of our own ornaments, and at least half are ones that I have been hoarding from Target literally every time I walk in the place) we used icicles, some glitter snowflakes, and my absolute favorite, the glitter pinecones. I thought pinecones would be weird, but they’re not. They’re actually the best thing I’ve ever seen at a Kmart. And there’s the tree topper, which is rustic and perfect and oh by the way, impossible to find. We went to at least seven different places searching before we stumbled upon this gem at JCPenny, of all places.
So here is Percy in all of his glory. We are so darn excited for our first Christmas as married people. I am eager to learn what a Bailey Christmas is really all about, because they’re pretty legendary and have very strict rules. The Watkins-Kay clan has a very laid-back Christmas attitude, which thankfully allows us to celebrate Christmas a few days early in South Carolina before the Bailey’s make their way to Charlottesville for Christmas. Six grown people in a tiny two-bedroom apartment? Challenge accepted.
