To try something new, I’m going to write short thank you letters to my friends and family for this week.
Husband: Thank you for making a big deal about my birthday. I love that you surprise me and hoard cards and presents so that my day was extra special and filled with love. And thank you for making me a wonderful birthday cake FROM SCRATCH all by yourself.
Mom: Thank you for knowing how special it is to have flowers. Thank you for being so encouraging and for being willing to talk through all 780 of the wedding photos.
Dad: Thank you for being practical and rubbing off on me. I really appreciate how you have been so verbally encouraging and supportive of me.
The Bailey Women: Denise, Jess, Jenny – thank you for making my birthday so special! I love all of you and am so thankful to have you in my life.
Amanda: Thank you for knowing how valuable an unexpected DVD of our favorite trashy TV show is. Seriously though, I love that you are so thoughtful and that you love to give really great gifts.
This isn’t an exhaustive list of people I’m thankful for. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful, encouraging people in my life, family and friends. And I want to be more open and encouraging to them, because I often get so caught up in so many different things that I don’t give people the kind words that they deserve or need. So here is my attempt to do that, and hopefully I will make this a weekly occurrence, so that words of affirmation will become a habit (gotta love those love languages).
